Three CPS Teams Advance To First-Ever IHSA Girls Flag Football State Finals

The Chicago Public League (CPL) made history, as three CPL schools qualified for the first-ever IHSA Girls Flag Football State Finals. Lane Tech, Perspectives Leadership and Whitney Young will compete against teams across the state for a chance at the first offiicial state title in Illinois history.

Lane Tech secured the CPL City Championship and Bears State Championship in 2024, Perspectives captured the 2024 Tochito Bowl and Whitney Young continues to be a leader in the sport across the league since its inception.

Quarterfinals – October 18, 2024:

Fremd vs. Evanston – 4:30pm

Perspectives Leadership vs. Bradley Bourbonnais – 5:45pm

Willowbrook vs. Whitney Young – 7pm

Lane Tech vs. Guilford – 8:15PM

Semifinals and Championship – October 19, 2024

Semifinal Game 1 – 11am

Semifinal Game 2- 12:30pm

Third Place Game – 2pm

Championship – 4pm

The Chicago Public League, the Chicago Bears and Nike launched the first-ever high school girls flag football league in the state of Illinois in 2021 with 22 CPS teams, and has now expanded to over 150 teams across the state (70+ within CPS) and is now an official state-sanctioned sport.
