For Morgan Park Mustang and Miami Hurricane, Destiny Harden, was drafted in the third round by the Phoenix Mercury in the 2023 WNBA draft.
Harden starred at Morgan Park in high school, averaging 18 points per game, 8 rebounds and 4 assists as a senior, leading her team to an IHSA regional title. Harden was a 4-star recruit and the number 19 wing player in her class, which propelled her to a successful college career, first at West Virginia and then Miami. In her final season at Miami, she averaged 11.9 points per game and helped lead the Hurricanes to an Elite 8 berth in the NCAA Women’s March Madness Tournament.
Harden will continue the CPS legacy at the Phoenix Mercury following in the footsteps of former Marshall high school and WNBA star Cappie Pondexter, who was a key part of the Mercury’s 2007 and 2009 WNBA Championship teams.
Harden and the Mercury kick-off the 2023 season May 19, 2023 against the Los Angeles Sparks.
