Baseball championship information

Are you ready for some championship baseball? Here’s everything you need to know about this Thursday’s rematch between Lane and Kenwood:

The Chicago Public League (CPL) and the Chicago Baseball and Education Academy (CBEA) are excited to partner once again this year to host the 2025 CPL City Boys Baseball Championship game at Curtis Granderson Stadium (901 W. Roosevelt Road, Chicago) on the campus of the University of Illinois – Chicago (UIC) this Thursday, May 22, at 7:00 p.m.

Coach Sean Freeman and his Lane Tech College Prep Champions (24-9, 13-1 CPL Jackie Robinson North Division Champs ) take on Romey Bracey’s Kenwood Broncos (16-6-1, CPL Jackie Robinson South Division Champs) in a matchup representing the two top CPL baseball teams still standing this year in search of the 2025 City Title.

Last year, the Champions of Lane Tech bested the Broncos of Kenwood 5-3 in the title game held at Wrigley Field with a thrilling 5-run, seventh-inning rally for the victory.

This past Monday, May 19, Lane defeated Simeon and Kenwood topped Whitney Young in semi-final matchups at UIC to advance to the championship game.
